INTRODUCTION

This tutorial will show you how to count using the Tarot as taught by Golden Dawn. The Qabbalah and Tree of Life are all interwoven with their system.

Elemental Dignities is used by Golden Dawn to assess the strength of cards they examine and count. Because I wanted to keep this guide simple, I did not include their use.

This article will help you to broaden your knowledge of these advanced tarot systems. You will be able to expand your knowledge on these advanced tarot system.

Each card must be assigned a numerical value. This will allow us to count cards more consistently.

CARD GROUPS

This is a way to add structure to the technique and value the cards.

THE MINOR ARCANA GROUPS

The Aces represents 5. These are the four elements and the fifth, spirit, or aether.

Each Small Card and Pip has its own numerical value. The 2 of Cups, for example, will count as 2, and the 8 of Pentacles count as 8, etc.

Pages and Princesses are numbered as 7, the same number of palaces of Tree of Life. The ancients called these the Seven Planets.

The Knights Queens & Kings Number 4 represents the Tetragrammaton.

THE MAJOR ARCANA GROUPS

The sum of Fool (or Hanged Man) and Judgment is 3. The Hebrew alphabet is made up of three elements.

The nine solar planets are represented by the Magician, High Priestess, Tower, Sun and the World.

Just as the 12 zodiac sign, Emperor, Hierophant, Lovers, Chariots of Strength, Hermits Justice Death Temperance Devil Star, and Moon all count 12, the Hermit Justice Death Temperance Devil Star and Moon also do.

THE MECHANICS of TAROT CARD COUNTING

The epic tarot, the Opening of the Key, uses the Tarot card counting. This method has a set way to determine where to begin counting.

We start counting the cards with the card we are currently counting.

We count the cards and tell a story as we go.

The reading will end if you follow the Golden Dawn rules.

CARD COMBINATIONS

Card counting and tarot card combinations work together well. You can read the cards sequentially, but it is better to read them in groups of 3 cards. The moderators or flanking cards can provide more information than the central card.

If you’re familiar with Elemental Dignities, it will be easier for you to read triads. Reading triads will be more structured if you don’t know Elemental Dignities.

A line of cards can be circular and continuous.

BEGINNING CARD COUNT

This diagram shows a variety of cards that have numerical values in various groups and with different strings. This graphic is prepared to be used with more advanced techniques.

Follow this tutorial using your Rider Waite Smith Deck. If you do not own a Rider Waite Smith Deck, use one. This is to ensure that the similarity between your deck and those in the image are preserved.

You can use your cards to follow along.
They are:

Knight of Pentacles

Ace of Cups

3 Wands

Three Cups

Page with Swords HTML

The Lovers

Nine Cups

7 Wands

6 Swords

Judgement

The World

9 Pentacles

Since he’s the first card, we will focus on the Knight of Pentacles. We will concentrate on his life and the most important aspects of it at that time.

COUNTING with the Knight of Pentacles

The knight is worth 4 cards. Count from him, and include him. Your landing will be on 3 Cups.

When reading card combinations, you should look at the 3 Cups as well as the cards that are directly adjacent.

The future of a young man (Knights of Pentacles) will be expanded and could include emigration.

If you want to learn this system, it will be easier if you have learned to count cards. You’ll be prepared for this system if you know how to count cards.

FROM 3 OF CUPS

After counting three cards, we land on the Lovers.

When using card combinations to play, you should consider the Lovers and how they relate to the storyline.

This is his dream job, or a partnership that he’s signed contracts with (Page of Swords).

The 3 of Cups is a celebration and not necessarily a dream position. Why would someone be so excited if the event was not important?

To the Lovers

After counting 12 cards (including the Lovers), we land on the Page of Swords.

You can use card combinations to enrich the story.

The Page Swords are also celebrating. One or both could have been chosen from a bigger pool.
This technique can be used to examine the Knight of Pentacles and the Page of Swords. This can be used to analyze the Knight of Pentacles and the Page of Swords. Both cards are facing each other, but not in an aggressive manner. This confirms that they have a relationship and is included in our analysis of the opening cards.
